New York City got its first subway in 1904.

October 27, 1904 to be precise.

The first subway line in NYC covered 9.1 miles and 28 stations.

Starting at City Hall in downtown Manhattan, it went all the way to Harlem.

From one line in 1904, the New York subway has today grown to 26 lines and 468 stations.

About 5.2 million people use the NYC subway on an average weekday.

Yes, the NYC subway runs 24-hours a day.

Who on the earth would have thought that a mediocre Indian restaurant Moksha would be replaced by a fine Indian restaurant like Taj Tribeca on Murray Street in Manhattan’s financial district.

Yes folks, Taj Tribeca is in the same location (18 Murray St) as the now closed Moksha restaurant.

We visited Taj Tribeca the other day while walking around financial district.

Surya NYC Review – Lousy Food; So-So Service

Raw, cooked or prepared food at Surya on Bleecker St in New York City is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan, says the New York City Health Department after inspecting this Indian restaurant on August 19, 2010.

Surya NYC also has evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.

Surya located at 302 Bleecker St in Manhattan received a whopping 30 Violation Points.

Sanitary Violations observed at Surya during the August 19, 2010 inspection:
(Critical Violations in red color):

*1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.
2) Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan.
3) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
