Finally folks, finally there is some good news about Lexington Avenue Indian restaurants.
Cinnamon Indian restaurant located at 106 Lexington Ave has got the coveted honor of “A Grade” from the New York City Health Department following an inspection on April 6, 2011.
Sure, there are other Lexington Avenue Indian restaurants that have been graded by the NYC Health Dept.
But they got either a B Grade (Saravanaa Bhavan, Curry Express, Curry & Curry) or a C Grade (Tiffin Wallah).
Cinnamon is the second Lexington Ave Indian restaurant to receive the coveted A Grade in the last six months.
Oh, we just realized that Pongal Indian Cuisine located at 110 Lexington Avenue also got A Grade on October 9, 2010.
As per the NYC Health Dept. guidelines, an inspection score of 0-13 is an A, 14-27 points gets a B, and restaurants with 28 or more points are handed a C.
Cinnamon received 12 Violation Points in its inspection of April 6, 2011.
While issuing A Grade to Cinnamon, the NYC Health Dept. inspection report cited sanitary violations like food protection certificate not held by supervisor of food operations.
Here is the full list of Sanitary Violations observed at Cinnamon Indian restaurant during the April 6, 2011 NYC Health inspection (Critical Violations in red color):
1) Food Protection Certificate not held by supervisor of food operations.
2) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit.
