Raw, cooked or prepared food at Salaam Bombay Indian restaurant on Greenwich Street is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan, says the New York City Health Department after inspecting this restaurant on October 25, 2010.

Also, according to the NYC Health Dept. inspection report of October 25, 2010, Salaam Bombay has other critical violations such as cold food item held above 41º F and evidence of mice or live mice present in the facility’s food and/or non-food areas.

Salaam Bombay located at 319 Greenwich Street in Manhattan received 30 Violation Points in its October 25, 2010 NYC health inspection.

Sanitary Violations observed at Salaam Bombay during the October 25, 2010 inspection:

(Critical Violations in red color):

*1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.
2) Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan.
3) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
4) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.
5) Food contact surface not properly maintained.
6) Other general violation.

Though Salaam Bombay on Greenwich St received 30 violation points, the restaurant has yet to go through the NYC Health Dept’s new graded inspection program.

But if you hypothetically go by the new grading system, Salaam Bombay Indian Restaurant would have got C grade for scoring 30 violation points.

Grading System:

A – 0-13 Violation Points
B – 14-27 Violation Points
C – 28 or more Violation Points
