Chola Indian restaurant (232 E.58th St), which did way too badly in its August 26, 2010 inspection by the NYC Health Department with rats, mice, potential food contamination and vermin horrors, has received 16 violation points in its latest inspection report (i.e. September 27, 2010).
In its Sep. 27 inspection report of Chola, the NYC Health Dept. cited violations in the following areas:
Sanitary Violations (critical violations in red color)
1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.
2) Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.
3) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit.
4) Other general violation.
Update:
Chola has since received an A grade from the NYC Health Department.
