Tadka Indian restaurant located on E 53rd St in Midtown East Manhattan is not vermin proof and harborage or conditions conducive to vermin infestation exist, says the New York City Department of Health following its inspection of this restaurant on May 11, 2010.
Besides the vermin issues, food contact surface at Tadka is not properly maintained, or not washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred and there is evidence of, or live mice in facility’s food and/ or non-food areas according to the NYC Health Dept. inspection report of May 11, 2010.
In addition to the vermin, food contact surface and evidence of, or live mice issues Tadka, which is part of Bollywood actor Shiva Natarajan’s Chola group, also notched up some weird violations.
Man, one of the violation points noted by NYC Health Dept.’s inspection report of May 11, 2010 was the strange:
Document issued by the Board of Health, Commissioner or Department unlawfully reproduced or altered.
Unlawfully reproducing or altering a document issued by Board of health, Commissioner or Department? Doesn’t sound kosher, does it?
We’ve never heard of this kinda nonsense before. What were these Tadka bozos dreaming of achieving with such bizarre actions.
Tadka passed NYC Health Dept. inspection conducted on May 11, 2010 by receiving 24 violation points.
To pass the NYC Health Dept. inspection, a restaurant must receive 27 violation points or less.
Sanitary Violations observed at Tadka during the May 11, 2010 inspection:
1.) Document issued by the Board of Health, Commissioner or Department unlawfully reproduced or altered.
2.) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained.
3.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin infestation exist.
4.) Food contact surface not properly maintained, or not washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.
5.) Evidence of, or live mice in facility’s food and/ or non-food areas.
6.) Hot PHF not held at or above 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
The NYC Dept. of Health said a Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection and that the violation point total received by Tadka is above the average violation point total of 14 for all NYC restaurants on their most recent inspection.
