July 7, 2009 – Vermin, Flying Insects, Roaches Issues Mar Ayurveda Cafe; Passes NYC Health Inspection
After failing two consecutive New York City Health Department inspections, Ayurveda Cafe in Manhattan has finally passed the NYC health inspection of July 7, 2009, albeit with issues like flying insects, roaches, vermin, spoiled, adulterated food, contaminated or cross-contaminated item.
Ayurveda Cafe Indian restaurant located on Amsterdam Avenue in Upper West Manhattan is not vermin proof, harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist and has evidence of flying insects or live flying insects, roaches or live roaches in facility’s food and/or non-food areas, says the NYC Health Dept. after inspecting the restaurant on July 7, 2009.
In its inspection report of July 7, 2009, the NYC Health Dept. also said that food item at Ayurveda Cafe Indian restaurant is spoiled, adulterated, contaminated or cross-contaminated.
Ayurveda Cafe Indian restaurant located at 706-8 Amsterdam Avenue, New York received 22 violation points and passed the inspection of July 7, 2009.
To pass the NYC Health Dept. inspection, a restaurant must receive 27 violation points or less.
Sanitary Violations observed at Ayurveda Cafe Indian restaurant during the July 7, 2009 NYC Health inspection:
1.) Other general violation.
2.) Food contact surface not properly maintained.
3.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist.
4.) Evidence of flying insects or live flying insects present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
5.) Evidence of roaches or live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
6.) Food item spoiled, adulterated, contaminated or cross-contaminated.
The NYC Dept of Health said a Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection and that the violation point total received by Ayurveda Cafe is above the average violation point total of 14 for all NYC restaurants on their most recent inspection.
