Food item at NanKing Express, located on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights, NYC, is spoiled, adulterated, contaminated or cross-contaminated says the New York City Department of Health following its inspection of this restaurant on February 9, 2009.
The NYC Health Dept. also found NanKing Express facility not vermin proof, harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist and evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.

To pass the NYC Health Dept. inspection, a restaurant must receive 27 violation points or less.
NanKing Express received 19 violation points and passed the NYC Health Dept. inspection of February 9, 2009.
The 19 violation points NanKing Express received in the Februrary 9, 2009 inspection is an improvement over the massive 103 violation points it received in the health inspection conducted on December 4, 2008, following which the restaurant was closed by NYC Health Dept.
Sanitary Violations observed at NanKing Express during the February 9, 2009 NYC Health Dept. inspection:
1.) Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.
2.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist.
3.) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
4.) Food item spoiled, adulterated, contaminated or cross-contaminated.
The NYC Dept. of Health said a Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection and that the violation point total received by NanKing Express is above the average violation point total of 16 for all NYC restaurants on their most recent inspection.
