If you plan on eating at Tiffin Wallah Indian restaurant located on E 28 St, New York City, please, please pray that you don’t feel like going to the restroom because the NYC Health Dept says that the toilet facility at Tiffin Wallah is not maintained and provided with toilet paper, waste receptacle and self-closing door.
Maybe, the restaurant wants you to use your hands like they do in India (where by the way toilets are in short supply).
Wonder what the chefs and wait staff do when they go to the toilet in Tiffin Wallah if there’s no toilet paper.
Disgusting.
Also, food at Tiffin Wallah is not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service, says the NYC Health Department after it inspected the restaurant on February 2, 2009.
To pass the NYC Health Dept. inspection, a restaurant must receive 27 violation points or less.
Tiffin Wallah received 17 violation points and passed the the NYC Health Dept. inspection conducted on February 2, 2009.
Sanitary Violations observed at Tiffin Wallah Indian restaurant during the February 2, 2009 inspection:
1.) Toilet facility not maintained and provided with toilet paper, waste receptacle and self-closing door.
2.) Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.
3.) Hot food not held at or above 140°F.
The NYC Dept. of Health said a Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection and that the violation point total received by Tiffin Wallah restaurant is above the average violation point total of 16 for all NYC restaurants on their most recent inspection.
