Swagat Indian Restaurant located at 205 W 29 Street at 7th Avenue in New York city failed the NYC Health Dept.inspection.
In its inspection of August 25, 2008, the New York City Department of Health found evidence of flying insects or live flying insects and also determined that Swagat Indian restaurant facility is not vermin proof.
Swagat Indian Restaurant received 79 Violation Points and failed the New York City Health Dept. inspection. of August 25, 2008.
To pass the NYC Health Dept. inspection, a restaurant must receive 27 violation points or less.
Sanitary Violations observed at Swagat Indian Restaurant during the August 25, 2008 inspection:
1.) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained.
2.) Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.
3.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist.
4.) Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.
5.) Hand washing facility not provided in or near food preparation area and toilet room. Hot and cold running water at adequate pressure not provided at facility. Soap and an acceptable hand-drying device not provided.
6.) Evidence of flying insects or live flying insects present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
7.) Appropriately scaled metal stem-type thermometer not provided or used to evaluate temperatures of potentially hazardous foods during cooking, cooling, reheating and holding.
8.) Food item spoiled, adulterated, contaminated or cross-contaminated.
9.) Cold food held above 41°F (smoked fish above 38°F) except during necessary preparation.Trans Fat Violations
1.) A food containing 0.5 grams or more of artificial trans fat per serving, is being served, stored, distributed, held for service, or used in preparation of a menu item.
The NYC Department of Health said a Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection and that the violation point total received by Swagat Indian Restaurant is above the average violation point total of 15, for all NYC restaurants on their most recent inspection.
But Swagat Indian Restaurant requires Compliance Inspection according to NYC Health Dept’s August 25, 2008 inspection report.
